Hey y’all! Welcome to Eclectic Grace! My name is Dessica; and I am a stay at home wife, homeschooling mom, and domestic diva…which pretty much means I do all the things, all the time…who is working on changing the health of my entire family through natural and organic means.
“Ok, that’s great,” You’re probably thinking. “…but who are you and why should I listen to you?” Honestly, I’m just your average wife and mother who wants the best for my family. I’m a DOD brat and a Florida girl whose Celtic roots run deep in Southern ground. I am a domestic diva, an incurable nerd, a Catholic convert, a fitness pilgrim, a network marketer and a wellness advocate, whose passion lies in coaching and teaching. My family is my life. My husband (Hubs) is a firefighter and mechanic with a passionate dedication to motorsports, metalwork, and DIY renovation. Our girl (LittleBit) is 8 going on 18, a glorious combination of sass and sense. To say that I stay busy is a massive understatement, but in spite of the messes of life I’ve always made time to write. Journaling has been an outlet for me since I was old enough to string words together, which makes blogging a natural fit. I’m a complete contradiction, in that I am both a natural skeptic and incredibly idealistic, which probably comes from the fact that I am also an INFJ. Essential oils and supplements are my jam. I also have a chronic genetic disorder (Ehlers Danlos Syndrome) and am a longtime anxiety sufferer.
For the past 15 years I’ve been on and off medications to “manage” my conditions but have been steadily feeling worse. After gaining 75 pounds over the course of 6 years, I began to get discouraged. I changed my diet and began working out. I cut my medications in half…and then I hit a wall. Unbeknownst to me, I was suffering from PAWS (Protracted Antidepressant Withdrawal Syndrome) which made working out nearly impossible. I knew there had to be another way, a better way, to improve myself and keep my family healthy. So I decided to do what I do best: research! I began digging to find the experts in the field of natural health and wellness. I decided to bring all that I was learning here, to hopefully save all of you from making some (or better yet, ALL) of the mistakes I made.
So, what can you look forward to reading here on the blog? I’ll be sharing incredible information from some of the top names in natural health and wellness, including Dr. Kelly Brogan, Dr. Axe, and Dr. Oz. You’ll find healthy, delicious recipes (vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free!) that I have personally tested out in my own kitchen and gotten the thumbs up on from both Hubs and LittleBit. You’ll see posts about skincare, haircare and makeup. I’ll also be documenting my personal journey out of the pit of antidepressant dependency, toward health and wellness freedom. Expect to see valuable information that can help you take your family’s health to the next level, sprinkled with humor, inspiration, and faith.
